Have you ever thought of birthday without a party, cake, gifts, friends and relatives? One such birthday I celebrated and my better-half planned a trip, to leave the city (with me of course) for two days and travel to one of the hill station. Verify Presence is  Enabled   1 . In outlook click File => Options  =>  People   2. Verify that “Display online status next to name” is checked   3.       If this option is greyed out launch Regedit and browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER  =>  SOFTWARE => IM Providers. Verify that DefaultIMAPP is set to “Lync”. 4.       Once this is set, close and relaunch Outlook. The “Display online status next to name” should no longer be greyed out and presence information should show up in outlook.
